Pedro,

I fully agree! Conferences like SHiFT bring faces and bodies to signigicant distant voices. It's crucial to build a community in person. And we all have to thank people like you for making these things happen. Thanks.

The European representation at the conferences I've attended has been quite good. And for the non-Europeans, the sentiment has been overwhelmingly positive. They have sensed a different underlying spirit to the gatherings, unlike other purely entrepreneurial or publicity-related events elsewhere. This is not to say that European conferences are always soulful affairs, but there is some truth to the observation that to a great extent, the discussion of technology in Europe addresses social as well as business interests. These interests are not only compatible, but are necessary to combine. That Europe seems to recognize this leads me to believe that there is a huge opportunity to unify activities and attitudes for true global thought leadership.

In the meantime, European technology properties can continue to thrive by noticing successful ideas elsewhere and adapting them for local markets here. Simultaneously, there are true innovators. And we should celebrate them.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Hey Jushua,
thanks for the post about SHiFT, I would really love to see more europeans attending to our own european conferences, we have so much human capital on this "old" continent that we should really start doing a whole lot more with the technology we have today! Don't you agree?

Hope I can see you in Lisbon, next September! ;)
